A leasurely affair starting at the Catalina Coffee Company on Saturdays @ 9am. The rides and routes vary on
a whim and meandor around the South Bay and thereabouts.
Local Rides
The following rides are NON-SBW rides, meaning that SBW does not organize or participate in the planning
of these rides.
Weed Wackers Ride - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
Moderate - easy pace. Leaves Catalina Coffee Company @ 9:00am on Sunday morning's.
On Tuesdays it leaves @ 9:00am from the parking lot at Rosecrans and the Strand with a ride up north to
Mandeville Cyn and on Thursdays @ 9:30am it leaves Malaga Cove for a ride to the domes and around San Pedro.
Donut Ride - Saturday @ 8am
Usually fast and furious, 30-40miles. Meet in Riviera Village across from Starbucks (Ave. I and PCH) at 8:00am in Redondo Beach.
The Donut Ride is an institution in South Bay cycling culture. The ride dates to 1973 and has maintained a
reputation for being a hammerfest. It draws many of the region's fastest riders (when they aren't racing).
Over the years, it has attracted a Tour de France stage winner, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and more than a few national
champions as regular participants. This is a consistently hilly route that will challenge you to climb well and still
maintain horsepower on the flat. Road surface: Good, except in Portuguese Bend.
Pier Ride, Tuesday & Thursday @ 6:30AM
Fast and flat with some short inclines, ~30 miles. Meets at Manhattan Beach pier, heads north up the bike path to Marina del Rey then
makes a loop around the marina with intermediate sprints and returns south for big sprint along Westchester Parkway.
Kettle Ride, Sunday 7:00AM
Pace varies from moderate to fast, 50 to 100 miles. This ride starts in Manhattan Beach at the corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Highland Avenue,
heads north up the coast to Malibu with options to continue into the Malibu Hills from there.

From the Kettle/Starbucks to Mandeville Canyon summit. Big group. Fun. Wear your championship jerseys.
