Please note for members considering skin-suit purchases. Currently only
the short sleeve is available. If a long sleeve is what you desire please let
me know. We are trying to get that option included if possible.

Here is the link to our newly re-opened Kit store!

https://custom.elielcycling.com/collections/southbay-wheelmen

Please make your selections and purchase by April 7th! The items you
see are all that will be produced in order to hit the minimums. There was
interest in the shoe covers but not enough. If we can get 6 takers (we
have 3 now) they can be added to the store. Please let me know asap~

Please note- The socks are being sold in packs of 3. If you want fewer
please 'team up' with another member on your order- it also saves on
shipping. We *may* have some single order socks available on a very
limited basis @ $9 a pair after the Club order is processed.

Regards,
Matt and your SBW/Eliel Team

Dear SBW Club members,

The Eliel store will be reopened soon for a limited number of items such as the
Laguna Seca bib shorts, Rincon Jersey, Mavericks skin suit and the shoe covers.

We have minimums we need to hit so if only 1 or 2 folks want a particular item it
won't be remade. The above items are solid. We have had requests for Vests,
base layers and long sleeve jerseys too. Please let me know if you will be ordering
any of these so I can fine tune the expectations for the club store.

We are also planning on a sock order- stay tuned for details!

We had a full plate this past weekend. The Team ride last Saturday was great, our Racing Team did an awesome job at CBR race series last Sunday and we are also well represented at LAVRA's Sprint Tournament at Velo Sports Center.

Here is the summary of those activities.

What a super fun Team ride last Saturday. The weather is just perfect to ride those hills of Palos Verdes.
We hit VDM on our first climb, then switchbacks to Ganado and all the way to Crest.
The third and final climb is via Zumaya. Great ride and great stories along the way.

Dear South Bay Wheelmen,

Rick Lilleberg has resigned as President of our club. (Please see his e-mail below) Rick has a lot on his plate and we wish him and his family the very best. I will assume the president's position. Jennifer Hirsch has let us know she will not be returning to the SBW board this year. We are working on the open board positions and will report on the elections in the near term.

The expected ship date for our SBW club kits from Eliel is January 20th. We are very excited about the new kits and our association with all the folks at Eliel Clothing.

With 2 sessions to go our SBW Track Clinic series have been a hit. This year we opened up the sessions to some local clubs to manage the cost and foster good will among the area clubs. Many thanks to our race director John McNulty and coaches Tela Crane and Giddeon Massie for making it a truly memorable experience.

SBW has committed again in 2017 to sponsor the LAVRA Time Trial series at the Carson Velodrome. The schedule will be posted to the SBW website and facebook when it becomes available.

Please see our club website http://www.southbaywheelmen.org/ for details on the continuing recovery of Teresa Steele. Steve Whitsitt is also feeling much better after his recent heart episode while riding his bike at Dockweiler beach. Lastly we lost a friend and former club member, Chris Reed, in a helicopter crash. Details on our website. >

We are looking forward to a great 2017 for the South Bay Wheelmen and all of our members!

Matt

from Rick Lilleberg

To all board members and interested parties,

And so we start a new year with new hopes and new paths to travel.

After much thought and discussion, I have found that still working for a living, remodeling the house (mostly all my own work) to get it on the market , recovering from the seasonal cold/sore throat bug, trying to maintain some reasonable bike fitness through all of this and finally trying to stay involved in the affairs of SBW, ....and of course looking for a place to live in Austin, I find that I'm coming up short of hours in a day to do this. So with that said I'm turning the reigns of leadership over to Matt Gorski our current vice president who over this past year has done a ton of work and an exceptional job for the club.

I sincerely hope to get a better handle on my time management skills and get this ankle healed to the point I can get down and meet for a few more rides before I head to Austin.

Regards,

Rick
